Disable Bittorrent

Make seperate Reload/Stop buttons
The toolbar saves space by combining the Reload and Stop buttons. Sometimes the page will finish loading right as you try to click for stop, reloading the whole page.

Content blocker
Opera 9 has a built-in content blocker. Right click a page, Block Content, and click any ad you want to remove. You can also have it remove everything in that web directory, nuking tons of ads at once.
How to set up a pre-built urlfilter.ini
- Go to a website that has ads. Say, cnn.com.
- Right click the page, click Block Content, click on an ad, and click done.
- Download this file and put it in one of the following directories:
- XP: C:\Documents and Settings\`user`\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\urlfilter.ini
- Vista: C:\Users\`user`\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera\profile\urlfilter.ini
- Linux: wget -O ~/.opera/urlfilter.ini http://www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/opera/urlfilter.ini
- Restart Opera. You may have to clear the cache.
Start Opera without Mail or System Tray
Right-click a shortcut to Opera, then add these flags in Target:, after ...opera.exe"
- -nomail
- -notrayicon
Something Awful Last Read
Dastardly Repressed (formerly Moho) is working on it.
Don't pop up download window
Open Transfers window, click View, "Show In Background when Starting Download"
Fix needing to press back twice on the Something Awful Forums
- Open a page on http://forums.somethingawful.com
- Right click and select "Edit Site Preferences"
- Under the "Display" tab, uncheck "Enable inline frames"
(note that this will prevent the topmost ad from displaying, leaving whitespace. The bottom ad will display properly.)
Fix Youtube/flash video players displaying characters instead of video
If you're seeing characters, then you need to go to Preferences > Advanced > Downloads and fix the configuration for that file type. Uncheck the box "Hide files types opened with Opera", then use the quick find to locate "swf". Highlight application/x-shockwave-flash and click Edit, make sure that "Use plug-in" is selected and that the Flash plugin is listed in the dropdown. Click Okay in both dialogs.
Escape a full-screen flash
- press ctrl+alt+del
- alt-tab
- Right-click on Opera
- Click Move
- Press an arrow button and move the mouse
- Now you can select View | Fullscreen
